Gratitude in Action

During this season, we hear the words "grateful" and "gratitude" more often. Although it may seem like background noise, it's an excellent opportunity to bring these words to the forefront and let them shine. We also talk about Thanksgiving meals, which, let's be honest, are amazing. However, as a vegan, I don't eat turkey, but I do enjoy filling (or stuffing), sweet potato and green bean casseroles, mushroom gravy, cranberry sauce, and delicious desserts. Are you hungry now?
Unfortunately, the world is experiencing turmoil, and it can become overwhelming. In addition, some of us are dealing with personal losses. In those situations, finding gratitude can be challenging, but it can significantly improve our spirits. Even when things are going well, practicing gratitude can enhance our lives.
So how can we be grateful? Let's start with the basics. We are all living and breathing beings who deserve love, respect, and kindness. If we put our differences aside and focus on what we have in common, we can come together and share compassion and kindness. We can then have civilized discussions and even agree to disagree on certain things without resorting to verbal or physical attacks. This is gratitude in action.
We can express gratitude by saying a prayer, taking a moment to sit with gratitude in our hearts, or doing something for others. Donating our time and money to non-profit organizations, shelters, or helping a neighbor, friend or family member are all ways to show gratitude in action. It not only boosts our spirits and energy, but it can also make a significant impact on others.
So, take a few minutes during your hectic day to state an intention of gratitude, say a prayer, or perform an act of gratitude. Your day may become a little brighter, and your light will shine brightly to lift you and others up. That's gratitude in action, and it's a beautiful thing.

Home: Home is where the heart is so take some time making it into what comforts and soothes you. Do whatever makes your home feel comfy. It could be as simple as organizing an area, cooking a nourishing meal, decorating for the holidays, or having friends and family over. Snuggle in and feel the love and light that is your home.
Preparation: Prepare yourself for the holidays. Even if you enjoy the holidays, take time to emotionally prepare for it by doing some easy mediations, grounding yourself, saying some prayers, taking a walk and being fully present for it. Whatever helps you prepare for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
Present Moment: Make sure to take the time this holiday season to be present and immerse yourself in the moments so you can fully enjoy them. Decorating and cooking are all great to do, just remember to take a step back, look around and appreciate all the memories you are creating and be part of those memories.
Wishing you many blessings this Thanksgiving season!
